Volunteer Staff Training day - Sunday 24th June
Organised and run by Todd Velvin, Rhys Williams and Mark Braddock, the attendance of 25 people was well received, with lots ski area operations info covered and discussed.
A range of topics were covered, from HSE requirements, Employer (SMC) and employee responsibilities, lift operations, snow safety, field operations guidelines for 2007, accident management and evacuation procedures, groomer and skidoo operation, snow condition reporting, Manganui Lodge security and fire systems, as well as avalanche rescue training.

Todd taking the avalanche rescue training session.
It was all very informative and a good insight into how the operation of our ski area has to be organised and carried out, in these modern times of Ski Area Safety Plan compliance, and operating concessions.
Thanks to all who attended.

Summary Snow Report direct on skitaranaki website
We have just updated our website so that it displays a summary of the snow.co.nz snow report on the homepage and every other section page.
We are now working on including more report details on the Snow Report page of our website also.

The live temp displayed is from the Metservice weather station located at Five Dollar Hut, the very top of Manganui Ski Area (the top of the top tow) at 1680m.
Our ticket office is at 1260m, so expect the live temp displayed at 1680m to be colder than the actual base area temperature!
We are also working on having more live data from the weather station available on our Snow Report page.
